Definitely Paul. It’s rare to find a HC that effectively empowers/releases someone with the “teacher” gift into the Harvest (or even in their own community). To attempt to answer your question I think someone with a TRUE teacher’s gift will naturally know how to involve everyone in the gathering. To me, “group participation” & “good teacher” go hand in hand – they are not separate – either/or – they are coupled together. To reference the original post, I don’t think I can say that someone who gives a 30 minute monologue (no matter how many great points he makes) is necessarily a good teacher at all…that’s not teaching – that’s speaking – anyone can speak – few people can TEACH. I liken it to school. Growing up in school I didn’t learn from my teachers who sat at the front and talked at me. I learned when they engaged me, and empowered me to solve problems, etc. They gave me tools. Then in college I sat in hours of lectures and still learned very little (especially that I can remember now) as a result. Thanks for the input!

I agree with what you have said here. I also see that “teacher” is one of five gifts that God has given to build the body and equip the saints. In my experience few HCs do a good job of finding and releasing those who have this gift. How do we do that without killing the group participation that we feel is also a biblical requirement?
